The Gamma Ray Burst GRB050904 was found by the SWIFT satellite
at 1:51 UT on Sept 04. It was localized to lie within an error of 11"
by the X-ray telescope on SWIFT. Follow-up observations
with ground-based telescopes rapidly identified the optical
afterglow. The Magnum telescope began to observe the source
after 12 hours when the weather on Haleakala permitted. It obtained
interleaved observations of the infrared Y,J,H and K colors, and
simultaneously optical R and I images, which are shown in this
image. The GRB, identified by the green circle, is seen in the infrared but not at shorter
wavelengths.
